When I first started using dapps, namely ForkDelta and CryptoKitties, I was only using my JSON file and MetaMask wallet to access dapps, which was enough that time though not very safe.
Soon after my interest in dapps grew, I had to deal with different kinds of cryptocurrency wallets.
In this article, you can find the 6 must-have wallets for people who want to trade on decentralized exchanges, use DeFi apps or play games.
By having these wallets on your devices and getting familiar with them, you can safely and efficiently use dapps any time.
Whether you are a trader or a yield farmer using various kinds of decentralized exchanges and DeFi apps to make money or a blockchain gamer, these wallets will make you ready for the battle in the dapp space.
1- MetaMask
MetaMask is the most popular Ethereum wallet for storing ERC-20 tokens and using dapps.
If you are interested in decentralized exchanges, DeFi apps, etc., it is less likely that you have not installed and used MetaMask yet.
As MetaMask is almost a universal wallet for accessing Ethereum-based dapps, this is the first cryptocurrency wallet you should have installed in your device if you plan to use Ethereum-based dapps.
Since MetaMask works as a browser extension, it is quite easy to install the wallet and use it on web browsers like Chrome and Firefox whenever you need it.
It is also available on Android and iOS, so you can use dapps on your mobile device with MetaMask as well.
To learn how to use MetaMask, you can refer to our MetaMask tutorial. The tutorial below includes everything you need to know about MetaMask:
2- Ledger Nano X
Hardware wallets are actually a must for anyone in the crypto space including dapp users as it is the only way for an average user to truly protect private keys from external threats.
Hardware wallets are the most secure form of cryptocurrency wallets to protect crypto assets, but you also need a useful cryptocurrency wallet.
Otherwise, paper wallets would also work for you as long as you don’t need to make a transaction.
Ledger Nano X will not only allow you to securely transfer cryptocurrencies but also use many dapps without any fear of losing your assets.
Unlike other hardware wallets, you can directly connect your Ledger Nano X to many decentralized exchanges and other kinds of dapps.
It is also possible to use Ledger Nano X as well as Trezor wallets to access and use dapps through MetaMask integration.
As a safer option, a hardware wallet is a must for those who deal with big amounts of funds in the decentralized world.
As Ledger Nano X can be used in conjunction with MetaMask and on many decentralized exchanges, DeFi apps, it is overall a great wallet to have for dapp users.

3- TronLink
TronLink is the most popular cryptocurrency wallet for using TRON dapps and storing TRON-based assets.
Just like MetaMask, it can be installed on the browser easily and is available on iOS and Android as well.
You can again use TronLink with your Ledger hardware wallet for a greater security. Once you install TronLink on your browser, you can go to any TRON-based dapps, and start exploring and using them.
4- Scatter
Scatter is the cryptocurrency wallet you should get to use EOS-based dapps. It could be used on Chrome browser but now it is only available on desktop for Windows, MacOS, and Linux.
Setting up Scatter and creating an EOS account might be a bit difficult for beginners. But, thankfully, you can find many videos and guides on Scatter if you have any difficulty setting up the wallet and connecting to dapps.
5- Coinbase Wallet
Coinbase Wallet is a very cool wallet to have because you can store and manage all your digital assets including crypto collectibles on your mobile device.
Besides, Coinbase Wallet also includes a web 3 dapp browser so you can use many Ethereum-based decentralized applications on your mobile device such as Compound, 1inch and dYdX.
With Coinbase Wallet, you can trade your tokens on decentralized exchanges and lend and borrow cryptocurrencies on your mobile device.
The web 3 dapp browser feature is only available on Android. But you can also use dapps on iOS devices by linking your wallet to supported dapps through WalletLink.
